Free agency has yet to officially begin, but many sources are starting to believe that NIck Foles will sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars come March 13th.

Nick Foles is reportedly expected to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 30 year old signal caller has been linked to Jacksonville during the offseason but more certainty is starting to build about his next destination. Of course, things could change between now and the start of free agency. But Jacksonville continues to be far and away the odds on favorite to land Foles.

Nick Foles Likely Headed to Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Jaguars are currently in a sticky situation with their own quarterbacks. Blake Bortles is just a year removed from getting a three-year contract extension, but it’s obvious that he will be gone, after getting benched for underwhelming backup, Cody Kessler. Enter Foles. Foles has spent several seasons recently as a backup. But he was Super Bowl LII’s MVP in a shootout against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. There have been a few teams with speculation about Foles besides the Jags, but circumstances during the offseason have led Jacksonville to be the favorite.

John Defilippo was announced as Jacksonville’s new offensive coordinator in January. Defilippo happened to be Foles’ quarterbacks’ coach in Philadelphia during the 2017 season. Thus, it’s no surprise that some Jacksonville fans would latch on to the likelihood of Foles reuniting with Defilippo. And then there’s also the fact that the Denver Broncos have reportedly agreed to trade for Joe Flacco. That was one more team off of the list for potential Foles suitors. Another hopeful sign for Jags fans would be that the Eagles chose not to franchise tag Foles.

If Foles does indeed sign with the Jaguars, it will change their draft needs. Dwayne Haskins sits atop the quarterback rankings in the draft. Jacksonville wouldn’t be in the market for him if Foles agrees to terms with Jacksonville. At that point, General Manager Dave Caldwell would do well to look for more weapons for Foles on the offensive side of the ball.
