Fantasy Football: Keke Coutee, Tre’Quan Smith Top Week 12 Wide Receiver Waiver Claims

Fantasy Football: Houston Texans wide receiver KeKe Coutee is finally healthy and is one of several smart wide receiver week 12 waiver claims.
Keke Coutee

The fantasy football season is officially in its final stretch. With the trade deadline passed in the majority of leagues, the only way to improve your roster is through smart waiver claims. No matter how good your roster is, you’ll need to make at least one or two moves on the waiver wire to win a championship. With that in mind, wide receivers Keke Coutee and Tre’Quan Smith can be smart adds for Week 12.

Fantasy Football: Keke Coutee, Tre’Quan Smith Highlight Top Week 12 Wide Receiver Waiver Claims

Keke Coutee

As long as his hamstring stays healthy, Keke Coutee is a smart flex start, especially in a PPR league. Finally back on the field, Coutee finished his night with five receptions for 77 yards. While he didn’t find the endzone, this is still solid production, especially considering this was his first game back from injury.

Any worry about Demaryius Thomas taking targets from Coutee should be completely eradicated. Coutee showed that he and Thomas can coexist in the same offense, and that’s not much of a surprise. Coutee is at his best out of the slot while Thomas is a pure perimeter receiver. Each guy should be productive moving forward, but Coutee should be the priority – and he’s far more likely to be available on your waiver wire.

Tre’Quan Smith

It’s been a long time coming, but Tre’Quan Smith finally had his breakout game. Facing off against an overmatched Philadelphia Eagles squad, Smith finished his night with 10 receptions on 13 targets for 157 yards and one touchdown.

Quite frankly, the New Orleans Saints have too many weapons for any team to stop. Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara are among the best in the league at their position and most teams will devote their resources to trying to slow those two. Nobody has the resources to also slow Smith, and Drew Brees won’t miss on an easy read. Smith should stay incorporated in the offense and put up starting fantasy numbers the rest of the way.

D.J. Moore

D.J. Moore finally had the breakout game everyone had been expecting for over a month now. The first-year receiver had one of the best weeks of anyone league-wide, recording seven receptions for 157 yards and one touchdown. He displayed the skills which made him such a coveted prospect just a few months ago and is poised to continue that success for the rest of the season.

We’ve been down this road with Moore before. Back in Week Eight, Moore recorded a combined 129 yards against the Baltimore Ravens. While he could disappear again, his talent is undeniable. While he has an unfavorable matchup in Week 12 against the Seattle Seahawks, he gets to face Tampa Bay, Cleveland, New Orleans, and Atlanta from Weeks 13 to 16. Moore could be a great stash play down the road for the fantasy football playoffs.
