One of Andrew Luck‘s favorite targets in 2016 is remaining in Indianapolis.

Doyle enjoyed a breakout season of sorts in 2016 for the Colts. He started 14 games and finished with 585 receiving yards, the second highest total on the team. He also added five touchdowns which was fourth-best, trailing Dwayne Allen, T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief.

Pro Football Focus gave Doyle the 16th highest player grade among tight ends for the 2016 season.

The 26-year-old originally signed with the Tennessee Titans as an un-drafted free agent in 2013. After getting cut towards the end of the preseason, he joined the Colts on September 1st of that year.

Over his first three years in the league, he never really made much of an impact with the team. During that time, he made a combined seven starts and caught just three touchdown passes. But his overall involvement in the Colts offense saw a significant boost last year.

Doyle signed a qualifying offer with Indy after the 2015 season upon becoming a restricted free agent after his third accrued season in the league. The deal paid him a base salary of $1,671,000 last year, which ranked 35th in the league among tight ends.

During his time with the team, Doyle has played a role in a few significant milestones in Andrew Luck’s career. His first career touchdown reception, which he caught on September 15, 2014, also registered as Luck’s 50th career touchdown toss. The following season, on November 8th, Doyle caught Luck’s 100th throw for a score.

The 6’6″, 258 pound Doyle played collegiately at Western Kentucky and led the Hilltoppers in receiving yards as a junior and senior. His 1,769 career yards as a pass catcher, along with his 162 receptions, rank fourth in school history.
