Why Blake Bortles Will Bounce Back in 2017

Blake Bortles had a terrible 2016 season. In 2017, as he works on his mechanics and learns the new play calls, he will bounce back and have a great season.

Blake Bortles had a terrible 2016 season. The Jaguars were equally as terrible. The fourth-year quarterback out of Central Florida is now seeking the best season of his career. He has the talent around him in Jacksonville to turn the team around and make the playoffs. He has been working on his mechanics with his coach out in California, and many believe he can get on the right track and be matured for next season. For the Jaguars to succeed, he has to mature into the quarterback they thought he would become. Many factors apply as to what the fourth-year quarterback needs to work on to get his team in the right position for a playoff berth.

As the off-season rolls along, Bortles and the entire Jaguars team will continue to work and get in the right position physically and mentally to be ready for 2017. With the re-signing of Chad Henne just this week, Bortles now has pressure on him. It’s make or break time for the ‘franchise’ quarterback. His numbers next season will prove his worth in a Jaguars uniform.

Why Blake Bortles Will Bounce Back in 2017

Mechanics Work

Blake has been working with his off-season coach ever since the Jaguars’ season ended after week 17. He has been out in California working on his mechanics to better his throwing style and improve his numbers for next season. If Bortles can come back to Jacksonville when OTAs and fall camp start having improved in both maturity and accuracy, then the organization will be highly impressed and believe that he is finally the quarterback that they saw at Central Florida.

Talent

With the Jaguars star-studded receivers and a quality tight end to work with, Bortles definitely has talent around him to help increase his numbers next season. Star receivers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns are always eyeing the ball and looking for a catch, and both guys are Bortles’ favorite targets to throw to. With those two receivers alone, the Jaguars have talent on the offensive side of the ball to help improve the team’s offensive efficiency. Tight end Julius Thomas has become one of Bortles’ favorite targets along with Robinson and Hurns. Though Thomas’s numbers weren’t exactly great last season, Bortles still finds him for clean-cut catches when he is open.

New Playcalling

With the promotion/addition of new coaches, Jacksonville will now see better play calls in 2017. Ultimately, the offense should thrive in this aspect and be efficient in all areas. Bortles will have better passes to throw and more plays to learn. The running backs and wide receivers will also have some new routes to run to catch passes, which will make Blake thrive as the Jaguars franchise quarterback.

All in all, Bortles will bounce back and be a much improved quarterback next season. The Jaguars as a team will be fresh with new draft picks and additions in free agency. Bortles can lead this team to the playoffs with the right playcalling and managing his throws correctly.
