Top Midseason Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl Candidates

The Philadelphia Eagles are chock full of potential pro bowlers, most of them on defense, and it was a tough choice to choose the best three.

The Philadelphia Eagles are chock full of potential Pro Bowlers, most of them on defense. The offense has very little to offer in terms of Pro Bowl quality players, with Carson Wentz being the only one slightly capable. The Eagles boast one of, if not the best safety tandems in the entire league, with Malcolm Jenkins and Rodney McLeod. Nearly all the defensive line is worthy as well, making a top three selection quite challenging.

Top Midseason Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl Candidates

Brandon Graham

Brandon Graham has been an absolute machine this season. His sack numbers aren’t wildly impressive, but he’s been getting a lot of pressure on quarterbacks and blowing up run plays all season. The pressure generated by Graham can flush the quarterback out towards other players. This may be an explanation for low individual sack numbers, but the Eagles are still tied for fifth in the league as a team. Either way, Graham has been tearing it up, and could be headed to his first Pro Bowl. It appears that this is the year of the Brandon Graham breakout.

Malcolm Jenkins

Arguably one of the best safeties in the NFL, it’s surprising he nearly didn’t make the Pro Bowl last season, making it as an alternate. He’s one of the best tackling safeties in the league, and is a beast in coverage too. He’s taken a little bit of a step back this season, but is still a dominant presence on the field, and is arguably the most talented player on the roster.

Rodney McLeod

Whereas Malcolm Jenkins has taken a step back, Rodney McLeod has stepped up. McLeod is only one tackle (52) behind Nigel Bradham for the team lead (53). He does however lead the team in solo tackles (49). He’s also tied for second in the league in interceptions (3). He also added his first career sack in the Minnesota Vikings game. As of right now, McLeod is on pace to get more interceptions in his first year as an Eagle than he did throughout his whole Rams career. He’s been an absolutely spectacular addition to the much maligned Eagles secondary.

Honorable Mention

Fletcher Cox

Fletcher Cox has been one of the better defensive tackles in the NFL, but he hasn’t been as dominant as he was last year, leading him to fall off of the top three here. If he can return to his 2015 form, Cox will be a shoe in for the Pro Bowl. There’s a good chance that Cox could make the Pro Bowl, but at this point, his play makes this harder to envision.

Carson Wentz

This may be an overreaction, but Wentz has been on fire. He’s certainly made some rookie mistakes, but he’s shown he can make good decisions and even better throws. If the receivers could consistently catch the football, Wentz’s completion percentage would be one of the highest in the entire league. Make it or not, Wentz is having a great rookie season and offers a glimmer of hope for the future of the Philadelphia Eagles organization.
