The Montreal Canadiens enjoyed a 7-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night. However, it came at a price. Coach Claude Julien announced that Joel Armia had suffered a concussion after a hit to the head from Canucks defender Tyler Myers. He also stated that Paul Byron would be day-to-day with a foot injury after taking a slap shot from teammate Shea Weber.
Paul Byron is day to day, per Claude Julien.
Armia, obviously, is out for a while.

Canadiens Lose Both Joel Armia and Paul Byron to Injury During Incredible Win
Joel Armia sustained the injury late in the third period. Armia was trying to corral the puck when Myers blindsided him with a hit to the head. He left the game immediately and did not return. Myers was assessed a five-minute major for the illegal check to the head after the officials elected to review the play.
Armia was having an outstanding game before being injured, as he scored two goals and added two assists for the first four-point game of his career. He now has five points in five games to start the season. Armia is expected to be out indefinitely. It’s possible we see Myers get served with a suspension due to the hit.
Byron on the other hand is only listed as day-to-day after taking some friendly fire from Shea Weber. Byron went to the bench, did return for a quick shift but left the game again.
So far this season, Byron has recorded two points in five games while playing on the fourth line next to Jake Evans and Artturi Lehkonen.
Two Veterans Looking to get an Opportunity with the Recent Injuries
Though no one wants anyone to suffer an injury, especially a teammate, recently signed Corey Perry and Michael Frolik will certainly look to take advantage of the opportunity. Both were signed to identical one year $750,000 deals before the season and provide solid depth scoring for the Canadiens.
The Canadiens will be back in action once again against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday night.
