Jonathan Drouin Out for the Montreal Canadiens

Jonathan Drouin

The Montreal Canadiens have announced that forward Jonathan Drouin will not dress tonight due to an ankle injury. The Habs have recalled Charles Hudon from their AHL affiliate Laval Rocket on an emergency basis to fill his spot.

Drouin Suffers Ankle Injury

Drouin suffered the ankle injury against the Boston Bruins and was held out of the February 15th contest against the Dallas Stars. However, Drouin has since played four games, but the injury is just to much to keep playing through. He will now miss at least the next game against the New York Rangers.

In 27 games this season, Drouin has scored seven goals and eight assists for 15 points.

Over his career between the Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning, Drouin has scored 67 goals and 142 assists for 209 points in 349 games.

Drouin was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round, third overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Yet Another Injury to the Habs Star

It’s been an injury-riddled season for Jonathan Drouin. Drouin missed most of the season due to a wrist injury that he suffered on November 15th. He returned to action on February 8th against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Habs ended up winning the contest 2-1 in overtime.

Since his return, Drouin has not been able to get back to the level of play he showed to start the season. Understandable, as Drouin is coming back after almost a three months absence. He’s now trying to shake the rust and catch up to players who are in mid-season form.

In the eight games Drouin has played since his return, he has failed to register a point.

In his place, the Habs elected to recalled Charles Hudon. Hudon has been lighting up the AHL this season, scoring 27 goals and 35 points in 46 games. In nine games with the Habs this season, Hudon has register one assist.
