Team Canada Names Final Roster for 2020 World Junior Championship

2020 NHL Draft Scouting Reports

Team Canada has named their final 23-man roster for the 2020 World Junior Hockey Championship. The tournament begins on December 26th in the Czech Republic, when Canada takes on their arch-rivals from the United States. The team is coached by London Knights head coach Dale Hunter.

2020 Team Canada World Junior Roster

Upfront, the team is expected to be led by 2020 NHL Draft prospect Alexis Lafreniere, Arizona Coyotes prospect Barrett Hayton, and Detroit Red Wings prospect Joe Veleno.

The defence is led by Colorado Avalanche prospect Bowen Byram, and New Jersey Devils prospect Ty Smith.

The goaltending battle rages on, with St. Louis Blues prospect Joel Hofer and undrafted Guelph Storm goalie Nico Daws continuing to fight for the number one job.

Other 2020 NHL Draft eligible players on the team include centre Quinton Byfield, winger Dawson Mercer, and defenceman Jamie Drysdale.

Benoit-Olivier Groulx, a forward with the QMJHL’s Halifax Mooseheads and Anaheim Ducks prospect, was the final cut.
