Haula really saw his stock rise after a strong showing for Team Finland at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. In the tournament he picked up six points (three goals, three assists) in six games, helping Finland to the Bronze Medal in men’s ice hockey.
The 34-year-old has made a career of being fast to the puck, and making good decisions once he won that race. Over his 13-year NHL career, he has amassed 821 games played with 163 goals and 205 assists. This season for Nashville he has been no slouch, either. In 62 games, he has ten goals and 21 assists for 31 points. He still skates 16:40 of ice time a game. That number is among the highest of his career, in fact, the third highest. Maybe he is like a fine wine, as they say. In any sense, Haula will be a great boost for a team needing some depth upfront for a Stanley Cup Playoff run. He plays both special teams, and can be used in many situations.
What This Means in Los Angeles
For Los Angeles, they will be turning over a new leaf. They head towards a new-era without long-time franchise leader Anze Kopitar, and under the guidance of a new head coach in Peter Laviolette. Haula’s speed, versatility, and reliability will be a perfect injection into the Kings roster. There will be change in L.A., but one thing that is for sure, is those qualities never go out of style.
