NHL Predictions: March 21 with New York Rangers vs Boston Bruins

NHL Predictions; NHL rumours

With the large amount of games on tonight’s NHL schedule, it might be hard to know where to start. We at the Last Word on Hockey have helped narrow your focus to our best bets. This round of NHL Predictions will help condense the slate into three best bets and one prop bet of the night.

NHL Predictions

New York Rangers vs Boston Bruins

Head-to-Head: Rangers 2-0 Bruins

TV: NESN; MSG 2; Sportsnet 360; ESPN+

Our opening game of NHL predictions has the New York Rangers playing the Boston Bruins. Jonathan Quick is the expected starter in goal for the Blueshirts, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Rangers now find themselves in a tight race with the Carolina Hurricanes for first place in the Metropolitan Division. Carolina is now only points in back of New York for first in the division. Artemi Panarin leads the team in goals (38) and assists (56) this season.

Boston is 7-2-1 in the last 10 and has won three games in a row. Jeremy Swayman is the expected starter for the Bruins, who are three points ahead of the Florida Panthers for first in the Atlantic Division. David Pastrnak is the team’s leader in goals (44) and assists (55) and is a point away from the 100-point mark this campaign. The B’s are top 10 in most major categories so far this season.

This could be an Eastern Conference final preview, but Boston avoids the season sweep in this.

Prediction: Bruins win 4-2.

Winnipeg Jets vs New Jersey Devils

Head-to-Head: Jets 1-0 Devils

TV: TSN3; MSGSN; ESPN+

The Winnipeg Jets look to keep rolling against the New Jersey Devils. Laurent Brossoit is the confirmed starter in goal for the Jets, who have three consecutive wins and are 7-3 in the last 10 games. Winnipeg is very stingy on defence and has given up two goals or less in the last five games. Tyler Toffoli has come on strong for the Jets and 30 goals between Winnipeg and New Jersey this season.

Newly acquired goalie Jake Allen is the confirmed starter for New Jersey, which is 3-7 in the last 10 games. The Devils need a bit of help to get back into the Stanley Cup Playoff race as they’re six points behind the Detroit Red Wings. Jesper Bratt is first in goals (22) and assists (45) this season for the Devils. John Marino missed the last game and could be out for this one for New Jersey.

New Jersey is fighting to save its season, but Winnipeg is fighting for first in the Central Division.

Prediction: Jets win 4-1.

Montreal Canadiens vs Vancouver Canucks

Head-to-Head: Canadiens 0-1 Canucks

TV: SN Pacific, TSN2; ESPN+

Our final game of NHL predictions has the Montreal Canadiens continuing their Western Canada road trip against the Vancouver Canucks. Sam Montembeault is the expected starter for the Habs, who have lost three straight games. Head coach Martin St. Louis is away from the team due to personal reasons at this time. Nick Suzuki is topping the team in goals with 27.

Casey DeSmith continues to shoulder the load while Thatcher Demko is still out. However, Vancouver is still 6-2-2 in the last 10 with Demko missing for a good portion of that stretch. Brock Boeser leads the team in goals with 36 while Quinn Hughes has 66 assists so far.

DeSmith has been very capable in between the pipes and the Canucks continue their push for the top seed in the West.

Prediction: Canucks win 5-2.

Prop Bet of the Night

Let’s go back to our featured game of NHL predictions for our preferred prop bet of the night. We think Pastrnak gets over the 100-point threshold in this one. Take Pastrnak +0.5 points tonight.
