With the large amount of games on tonight’s NHL schedule, it might be hard to know where to start. We at the Last Word on Hockey have helped narrow your focus to our best bets. This round of NHL Predictions will help condense the slate into three best bets and one prop bet of the night.
NHL Predictions
Washington Capitals vs Vancouver Canucks
Head-to-Head: Capitals 0-1 Canucks
TV: Monument Sports Network 2; Sportsnet1; ESPN+
Our opening game of NHL predictions has the Washington Capitals visiting the Vancouver Canucks. Washington is expected to go with Charlie Lindgren in goal, but always check social media before locking in a fantasy starter. The Capitals are 5-4-1 in the last 10 games as they chase a Stanley Cup Playoff spot. Dylan Strome leads the team in goals with 22 while John Carlson is tops in assists with 33.
Casey DeSmith is the expected starter with Thatcher Demko out of the lineup for the next couple of weeks. Vancouver is 5-3-2 in the last 10 games as it tries to ride out the Demko injury. Brock Boeser leads the team in goals with 35 while Quinn Hughes is topping the assist category with 63. The Canucks hold a three-point lead for first in the West ahead of a trio of Central Division-leading teams.
Missing Demko hurts, but DeSmith is a capable goalie with a solid offence in front of him.
Prediction: Canucks win 3-2.
Colorado Avalanche vs Edmonton Oilers
Head-to-Head: Avalanche 0-0 Oilers
TV: Altitude; CBC; Sportsnet; ESPN+
Our featured game of NHL predictions has the Colorado Avalanche squaring off with the Edmonton Oilers. Colorado is expected to go with Alexandar Georgiev in between the pipes for this game. The Avalanche have won five straight games and are 7-2-1 in the last 10 games. Colorado has been great in the last few games in winning in different ways. The offence can be explosive, but the defence has been strong as well.
Stuart Skinner is the confirmed starter for the Oilers, who are also 7-2-1 in the last 10 games. Edmonton’s defence has gotten back to basics and played well during this recent wining run. Zach Hyman is first in goals with 46 while Connor McDavid has another 100-point season thanks to his 81 assists. The Oilers likely have no chance to win the Pacific Division, but can at least get home ice in the first round.
Both teams have been hot as of late, but Colorado gets the victory.
Prediction: Avalanche win 4-3.
Nashville Predators vs Seattle Kraken
Head-to-Head: Predators 1-1 Kraken
TV: Root Sports Northwest; Bally Sports South; ESPN+
Our last game of NHL predictions has the red-hot Nashville Predators visit the slumping Seattle Kraken. Nashville has points in the last 13 games and are 8-0-2 in the last 10 games. Juuse Saros is the projected starter for the Predators. Filip Forsberg leads the team in goals with 34 while Roman Josi is tops in assists with 50. Nashville has a 17-9-1 record in games it scores one or more power-play goals.
Philipp Grubauer is the likely starter for the Kraken, who are losers of three straight games. Seattle is falling out of the playoff race and would need a win to show some sort of life. Jared McCann is the team’s leader in goals with 27 while Vince Dunn has 34 assists.
Nashville is coming off a huge win the other night and the lines are working despite who plays.
Predictions: Predators win 5-2.
Prop Bet of the Night
We keep with the last game of the night as the Predators take on the Kraken. Josi is making a case to be in the Norris Trophy conversation. We like Josi getting the over on +1.0 points against Seattle.
