It has been a disappointing season for Philadelphia Flyers prospect Samuel Morin. Injuries have limited him to just 15 regular season games. He played in parts of three playoff games in the conference final before sustaining an injury.
Morin missed about three and a half months during the regular season, suspected to be a groin injury. He will now have season-ending knee surgery. He was injured in the first period of the Phantoms five-overtime win against the Charlotte Checkers.
According to head coach Scott Gordon, Morin will have the surgery once the swelling goes down in his knee.
Samuel Morin’s season is over and he will have knee surgery. Tough break for the 6-7 D-man who has had a series of injuries this season. #Flyers

Samuel Morin To Have Knee Surgery
Making the Flyers out of training camp, Morin appeared in just two games for the Flyers this season. After serving as a healthy scratch during the team’s four-game season-opening road trip, Morin was sent back to the Phantoms.
He was briefly called up, appearing in two games in November before returning to the Phantoms. Injuries would tell the tale of his season with the Phantoms.
There was a brief moment where Morin was thought to be called up at the end of October. That speculation ended when Morin was projected to miss two weeks with a nagging injury. The injury bug hit again during the Phantoms Outdoor Classic against the Hershey Bears in January.
His lower-body injury kept him out until the second round of the AHL playoffs. He would only make it until the first period of the third game, however. Morin was seen on crutches following the game, a sign of the serious injury.
Lost in translation of last night's thrilling 5OT #LVPhantoms win is that Sam Morin was injured and from what I saw post-game it's a serious injury.
Morin was seen on crutches post-game. I fear it's an ACL or MCL injury.

No details were given on the specifics of Morin’s knee surgery, but his status for training camp in the fall is up in the air.
Travis Sanheim, Phil Varone Likely To Return From Injury Soon
Travis Sanheim left game one of the semi-finals after taking a knee-on-knee hit from Valentin Zykov. He was soon ruled out for the season, reportedly with an MCL knee sprain.
Phil Varone suffered an upper-body injury during game three of the first round against the Providence Bruins.
Both players participated in the Phantoms practice on Wednesday. Sanheim was seen skating in a regular jersey, while Varone skated in a no-contact jersey. When asked about both players statuses for the upcoming series, Scott Gordon mentioned both will likely return soon.
Injury updates – #LVPhantoms coach Scott Gordon said he thinks "it's not a question of it, but when" for Travis Sanheim and Phil Varone returning for the AHL Eastern Conference Finals series against Toronto.

Carter Hart, Morgan Frost To Join Phantoms
With both Carter Hart and Morgan Frost being eliminated in their respective finals, both are set to join the Phantoms for their playoff run. They are both unlikely to play, however.
Hart is coming off his final season in the WHL with the Everett Silvertips. This was a season where he made WHL history by winning the Del Wilson Memorial Trophy for the third consecutive season. He became the first goaltender to win the award three times.
Hart posted a 1.60 GAA and a .947 SV%, along with an all-time record 26 shutouts in 41 games played.
Frost is coming off a 112-point season with the Soo Greyhounds of the OHL. Frost’s 112 points were only three behind Aaron Luchuck of the Barrie Colts, the scoring title winner. He also finished second in MVP voting to St. Louis Blues prospect Jordan Kyrou.
Frost finished the regular season with 42 goals and 70 assists. He added 10 goals and 19 assists in 24 playoff games.
While both are unlikely to play, it will give them valuable experience in a higher-paced environment. Frost will not be eligible to play for the Phantoms next season, this gives him a taste of the future. Unless Hart makes the Flyers out of camp, the Phantoms will be his destination next fall.
