The 2018 World Junior Championships are right around the corner. Team Canada named their selection camp roster today, bringing in 18 forwards, 10 defencemen and 4 goaltenders. The 32-man camp roster will eventually need to be whittled down to a 23-man final roster, likely 13 forwards, seven defenceman and three goaltenders.
It is possible that Canada could also add to this group if NHL teams decide to release eligible juniors. The most likely NHLer to be released is Victor Mete of the Montreal Canadiens.
Selection camp takes place between December 12th and December 15th in St. Catherines, Ontario. The team plays exhibition games on December 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th and 22nd, before opening the tournament against Finland on December 26th.
Highlighting the camp roster are seven returnees including goaltender Carter Hart; defencemen Kale Clague, Jake Bean and Dante Fabbro; as well as forwards Dillon Dube, Michael McLeod and Taylor Raddysh.
Other standouts include defenceman Cale Makar, and forwards Sam Steel, Jordan Kyrou, Cody Glass, and Nick Suzuki.
