Welcome back to another day of NHL Predictions. Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today’s featured game is between the Seattle Kraken and the Minnesota Wild.
NHL Predictions: Seattle Kraken vs Minnesota Wild
Colorado Avalanche vs Anaheim Ducks
Head to Head: Avalanche 0-1 Ducks
Our first game on the NHL Predictions is a conference showdown. The Colorado Avalanche take on the Anaheim Ducks. These two teams are on polar opposite spectrums.
Colorado has been one of the hottest teams as of late. As they chase Dallas down for the division crown, they’ve gone 7-1 in their last eight games. They’ll enter this game playing the second of a back-to-back set. Anaheim has done their best work to keep their odds high for Connor Bedard. They’ve lost four in a row and rank at the bottom in everything. One thing that won’t go well is their 30th-ranked penalty kill against Colorado’s second-ranked power play.
Prediction: Avalanche defeat Ducks 5-1
Edmonton Oilers vs Arizona Coyotes
Head to Head: Oilers 2-0 Coyotes
Our next game on the NHL Predictions is another western conference showdown. If one juggernaut was not enough for the Arizona Coyotes, here’s another. After a home-and-home set with Colorado, they now take on the Edmonton Oilers. These two teams just met five days ago.
Both of these teams have highly talented point producers. The Oilers have the best offence in the league and their top six is as dominant as any. Both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are having career years. In addition, Clayton Keller is having a career year and is on the verge of eclipsing the 80-point mark. Arizona ranks at the bottom in a lot of categories, but is a competitive club. Unless Edmonton gets goalied, the two points is there’s.
Prediction: Oilers defeat Coyotes 4-2
Seattle Kraken vs Minnesota Wild
Head to Head: Kraken 1-1 Wild
Our featured game on the NHL Predictions is between two playoff clubs. The Seattle Kraken travel to take on the Minnesota Wild. Both teams are in playoff position and ars fighting for seeding. For the first time in a good while, Minnesota sits on top of the division.
Despite the team being without superstar winger Kirill Kaprizov, they found ways to win. This is not a flashy offensive team, but they defend really well. One player that has taken over in his absence is Matthew Boldy.
He has 14 points in the month of March. In addition, he has six goals and seven points in his last five games.
Seattle currently occupies the first wild card spot. Its great for them as they enter their second season. This team can score in bunches and rank fourth in average goals for per game. In addition, they rank first in even-strength goals. The power play is not their strong suit. This game could very well come down to goaltending and the ability for Seattle to solve that smothering defence.
Prediction: Wild defeat Kraken 3-2
