St Louis Blues Goaltender Gets Suspended

If things could not get worse for this team, they have now. St Louis Blues Jordan Binnington will serve a suspension. Binnington is suspended for the next two games. After the antics during their tilt with the Minnesota Wild, the results from his bearing are in. Never ideal to lose your starting goaltender for a period of time.

St Louis Blues Goaltender Suspended

Eventually, the antics were going to catch up to him. A series of incidents have occurred involving St Louis Blues Jordan Binnington. Between throwing a water bottle at Nazem Kadri, to the trip on Jason Zucker behind the goal, this is an ongoing occurrence. However, after punching Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman that was the icing on the cake. The punch insinuated a brawl which led to a goalie fight almost occurring. There may have been contact prior to the punch as Hartman skated through the crease, but Binnington lost his cool. Head Coach Craig Berube has called out the netminder for his after-play antics before, but now he will be without his starting goaltender. St Louis is out of the playoff picture at this rate, but not a good situation overall.

Binnington’s Impact

The guys in front of him don’t defend the greatest. St Louis has the seventh worst Corsi For and are chasing the game. In addition, they also allow the seventh most high-danger chances. Not an ideal situation even for a goaltender. But this is all about Binnington and not so much the team. It has been a down year for the 2019 Stanley Cup Champion. Binnington is rocking a subpar .892 save percentage, 3.39 goals against average, and a brutal -12.6 goals saved above expected. Given his contract, these are some poor numbers.

Management has made it clear to his the reset button. Parting ways with veteran forwards signals that a new era is underway. Binnington is the clear-cut starter for the foreseeable future. Not a great look for him this last game.
