Philadelphia Flyers Make Front Office Changes

Things have not gone right in the City Of Brotherly Love. Success has come for the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, but the same cannot be said for the Flyers. Changes are going to be made. Philadelphia Flyers Chuck Fletcher is out as General Manager. A new regime will be underway.

Chuck Fletcher Out As General Manager

It was only a matter of time before Philadelphia Flyers Chuck Fletcher was shown the door. Things have not gone as planned and his tenure has had a rocky ride. Fletcher has served as the General Manager since 2018 taking over for current Pittsburgh Penguins General Manager Ron Hextall. In addition, Fletcher is also the President of the organization. This a major change, but a necessary one as the team needs a new direction.

Where Do The Flyers Go From Here?

It is no secret that this team needs to hit the reset button. Finally that time has come with Philadelphia Flyers Chuck Fletcher out the door. After shipping out fan favourite and former captain Claude Giroux, the writing was on the wall. But that never happened and instead, Fletcher went out and made trades. Not to mention, the team is cap strapped which took them out of the running for Johnny Gaudreau this past summer. Given the state of the team, not shipping out anyone significant for a return is puzzling. Notably, James van Riemsdyk would have been perfect to part with. During his tenure, the Flyers have made the playoffs just once and it’s been downhill since.

A full-scale rebuild should be coming and the fans deserve better. The team does have young pieces in place to build around. Daniel Briere will be taking over as the interim general manager. Whether he takes the job full time remains to be seen, but he has his work cut out for him for the foreseeable future.
