Davidson said that the two sides talked at the All-Star Break, but took a break. Co-host Rick Dhaliwal then asked about the term for Bear and it would be a one or three-year deal according to Davidson. The agent then added that Bear would be fine with a one-year contract.
What an Ethan Bear Extension Means
The Regina, Saskatchewan is currently making $2.2 million after being dealt from the Carolina Hurricanes. Bear has three goals and 14 points in 46 games this season with the Canucks. He had been pairing with Quinn Hughes and the duo was settling in under new coach Rick Tocchet.
Bear is an arbitration-eligible RFA along with Travis Dermott, Vitali Kravtsov and Noah Juulsen. It will be interesting to see what kind of contracts these RFAs will get. However, it seems that Bear and Juulsen will be a priority in the off-season. The Canucks do have some decisions to make in the summer, but GM Patrik Allvin knows Bear will be part of the future.
