Max Pacioretty Sidelined With Injury

The Carolina Hurricanes have been dealt a low blow. After making a positive announcement with the signing of young forward Martin Necas, the team made a not-so-positive announcement. Max Pacioretty will be sidelined with an injury. After rupturing his Achilles tendon, Pacioretty will undergo surgery and be sidelined for the next six months. A low blow for the team that got the offensive firepower they have been searching for.

Max Pacioretty Out With Injury

This is a big blow to the team. Despite the Hurricanes being a deep team up front, Pacioretty was the firepower they have been needing. A top-notch finisher in this league is exactly what the team needed. With him sidelined, the team will look for someone to step up in his place.

Carolina acquired Pacioretty this off-season in a trade with the Vegas Golden Knights. Along with him came defenseman Dylan Coghlan for future considerations. He tallied 37 points in 39 games played last season. Throughout his career, he has scored 323 goals, 319 assists, and 642 points. Pacioretty has hit the 30-goal mark five times in his NHL career.

How This Impacts The Hurricanes

Even though Pacioretty is out with injury, the team will still be in good shape. They boast a talented core of Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov, Teuvo Teravainen, Seth Jarvis, Jaccob Slavin, and Jordan Staal. Rod Brind’Amour is one of the best coaches in this league, and this team looks the same as it did last season.

Who Needs To Step Up

Max Pacioretty is sidelined with an injury. The Hurricanes will look within for someone to step in his place. Based on the constructed roster, the team will look for players such as Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Martin Necas to step up. Both will see increased roles in the lineup and take the next step in his absence. Ondrej Kase was also brought in for depth and should be able to pick up the slack. This injury stings for the team and the player, but they will still be among the elite in the Conference.
