Defenceman Carson Lambos was signed to his entry-level contract by the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday afternoon. This contract is three years in length, taking him through the 2024-25 season.

Carson Lambos Signed to ELC by Wild
The 18-year-old, left-shot defenceman was drafted 26th overall in the 2021 NHL draft, Minnesota’s first-round pick. He spent most of last season playing in the Finnish league, but only playing a few games. In 13 matches, he scored twice and dished out nine assists, racking up 11 points. He also played in the WHL, but only competed in two full games. However, in the 2019-20 season, he tallied 32 points (8 goals and 24 assists) and a plus-20 rating in only 57 games in the WHL. Lambos also led all WHL rookie defensemen in scoring, tied for first in game-winning goals, second in assists, and tied for second in goals. It’s obvious from these numbers he is very capable of putting the puck in the back of the net and setting his teammates up for success.
What This Means for Minnesota
Lambos is a fantastic prospect to have in the Wild’s system. His strong skating allows him to quarterback quick breakout plays, as well as hustle back on defence to stop any potential odd-man situations. In the offensive zone, Lambos has a deadly slapshot and one-timer, and shoots for a rebound more often than not. This small detail allows his teammates in the front of the net to get easy putback goals.
In his own end, Lambos is solid defensively. Nearly impossible to beat in a one-on-one scenario, he forces attacking players into bad shooting positions, making for an easy save. At 6’1″ and 201 pounds, Lambos is more than capable of playing the body. If he sees an opportunity, he will more often than not go for a big body check.
