Corey Perry Signs One-Year Contract to Return to Los Angeles Kings

The Los Angeles Kings have officially announced that Corey Perry signs a one-year contract worth $1 million for the 2026-27 season. The deal reunites the 41-year-old winger with the club after splitting last season between Los Angeles and the Tampa Bay Lightning. Perry posted 17 goals and 28 points in 72 combined games while continuing to provide valuable depth, leadership, and Stanley Cup Playoff experience.

Furthermore, the agreement gives the Kings an affordable veteran option who remains capable of contributing in a bottom-six role despite entering his 22nd NHL season.

Perry’s offensive production has naturally declined from his Hart Trophy days, but he continues to carve out an effective role. He recorded 11 goals and 28 points in 50 games with Los Angeles before finishing the season with six goals and nine points in 22 contests after joining Tampa Bay.

Meanwhile, public analytics suggest Perry remains an effective complementary player. JFresh projects him as roughly a league-average fourth-line winger, while HockeyStatCards rated him as a positive contributor on both sides of the puck last season. His hockey IQ, net-front presence, and finishing ability continue to offset diminished skating.

Originally selected 28th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2003 NHL Draft, Corey Perry has appeared in 1,326 NHL games, recording 566 goals and 1,170 points. His résumé includes the 2007 Stanley Cup, the 2011 Hart Trophy, the Rocket Richard Trophy, Olympic gold medals, and nearly every major international championship.

What It Means for the Kings

Los Angeles knows exactly what it is getting. Perry is no longer expected to drive offence, but he continues to provide value through smart positioning, physical play, and leadership. He has also remained an effective playoff performer, reaching five Stanley Cup Finals over the last seven seasons with four different organizations.

Furthermore, Perry gives the Kings another experienced option capable of moving throughout the lineup when injuries arise. His versatility allows him to play either wing while contributing on the power play and around the crease.

At just $1 million, the contract carries little financial risk. If Perry continues producing at last season’s pace, the Kings will once again receive strong value from one of the NHL’s most accomplished veterans.
