Hurricanes Goalie and Forward Status Ahead of Game 4
Firstly, the elephant in the room. Who will be the starter for Game 3? It was assured that Frederik Andersen did not receive any head injury or concussion following Game 3, when Ivan Barbashev collided with Andersen prior to Jack Eichel scoring a goal that was, upon further review, taken off the board. However, it does appear that Brandon Bussi will start Game 4, after stopping 18 of 19 shots in relief of Andersen in Game 3, which featured a valiant third-period comeback from the Hurricanes before their eventual loss in overtime.
Bussi had an impressive regular season where he recorded a 31-6-2 record despite only having an .895 save percentage. That is a testament to how well the Hurricanes play in front of him, even though he is not giving them elite goaltending all the time.
Next, the status of William Carrier. The forward sustained an injury in the second period of Game 3 after going for a hit on Vegas defenceman Jeremy Lauzon. He did not play the third period, but returned for practice on Monday. Carrier will be in the lineup this evening, presumably playing on the fourth line with Mark Jankowski and Eric Robinson.
Quick Notes on the Vegas Side
Noah Hanifin and Brayden McNabb did not practice on Monday due to maintenance days. According to head coach John Tortorella, both are expected to be in the lineup this evening. There should be little to no changes to the Vegas lineup.
Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final will surely be a doozy. Puck drop will be shortly after 8:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time tonight, so strap in and enjoy!
