Our second game of NHL predictions has the Washington Capitals going for the season sweep over the Winnipeg Jets. Logan Thompson is the likely starter for Washington, which is 7-1-2 in the last 10 games. The Capitals’ last two defeats have been in shootouts. Alex Ovechkin continues to defy Father Time with 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points.

Winnipeg has been struggling over the last 10 games, posting a 2-7-1 record. However, the Jets might be getting some good news with the return of Hart Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck drawing closer. Winnipeg head coach Scott Arniel said Hellebuyck could play against Washington. Both Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor are tied for the club’s lead in points with 38 so far.

The Capitals have been playing well, but the Jets will get a jolt if Hellebuyck does play.

Prediction: Jets win 3-2.
