Physical Depth Forward Signs Utah

Liam O’Brien has a new contract. The bruising winger is signing with the Utah Hockey Club and is locked in for the next three years. It is a good deal for him and for the club heading into the 2024-25 season.

O’Brien Inks Contract With Utah

He isn’t the flashiest name on the list, but it’s a good addition. O’Brien isn’t going to blow you away with his skill and goal scoring. He certainly can, but it is not what he is known for. O’Brien is a physical and bruising winger, that excels in the enforcer role. He is a player that is capable of finishing his checks (229 hits) and is willing to stick up for his teammates. O’Brien is a player that can bring energy to the group and be an effective role player.

He is more than just his ability to throw the body and be an enforcer. During the 2023-24 season, O’Brien finished with five goals and 14 points. Also, this was a career year for him, as he doubled his shot total and made the most of his opportunities. O’Brien is an effective player and good for him to land the contract he got.

What This Means

The O’Brien contract is great for both sides. O’Brien lands a new deal and gets rewarded for having his best season to date. Good things happen when you go out there and deliver when the opportunity presents itself.

As for the team, they are getting an effective player. O’Brien can slot on the bottom two lines but bring an added boost of production. He also brings the toughness element to the lineup. However, the key thing is he can combine the two together, which makes him a good asset to have. Good for both sides heading into the 2024-25 season.
