NHL predictions

With the large amount of games on tonight’s NHL schedule, it might be hard to know where to start. We at the Last Word on Hockey have helped narrow your focus to our best bets. This round of NHL Predictions will help condense the slate into three best bets and one prop bet of the night.

NHL Predictions

Boston Bruins vs Florida Panthers

Head-to-Head: Bruins 2-0 Panthers

TV: NESN; Bally Sports Florida; SNO, SN Pacific; ESPN+

Our first and featured game has the Boston Bruins visiting the Florida Panthers. Boston is expected to go with Linus Ullmark in between the pipes. However, always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Bruins are 6-3-1 in the last 10, but have lost two in a row. David Pastrnak is one point away from 100 with 44 goals and 55 assists this season. The Bruins’ offence has dried up in the last couple of games with only two goals in each of the last two games.

Florida is expected to counter with Sergei Bobrovsky in the blue paint for this game. The Panthers are 5-4-1 in the last 10 games, but have played some tough opposition during that stretch. Both teams are in among the pack of seven teams that are slugging it out for the President’s Trophy. Sam Reinhart leads the team in goals with 50 while Matthew Tkachuk is first in assists with 55.

This is expected to be another heavyweight contest, but Florida finally gets a win over Boston.

Prediction: Panthers win 4-2.

Philadelphia Flyers vs New York Rangers

Head-to-Head: Flyers 0-2 Rangers

TV: MSG; NBC Sports Philadelphia; ESPN+

Our second game of NHL predictions has the New York Rangers hosting the Philadelphia Flyers, who will likely start Samuel Ersson in goal. The Flyers are 4-4-2 in their last 10 and have put together some good victories. Philadelphia leads the Washington Capitals by two points for the last automatic spot in the Metropolitan Division. However, the Capitals have a pair of games in hand. Travis Konecny is first on the Flyers in goals with 30 this season.

Igor Shesterkin is the confirmed starter in net for the Rangers, who are 7-3 in the last 10 and have two straight victories. Artemi Panarin is one point away from 100 with 43 goals and 56 assists. Erik Gustafsson is a game-time decision for the Blueshirts, who are already without Ryan Lindgren and Jacob Trouba on the backend. The Rangers have held the Flyers to one goal in each of the last two games.

New York is talented, but the injuries on defence will catch up to them.

Prediction: Flyers win 3-2.

Edmonton Oilers vs Winnipeg Jets

Head-to-Head: Oilers 1-1 Jets

TV: SN West, TSN3; ESPN+

Our final game of NHL predictions has the Edmonton Oilers heading east to battle the Winnipeg Jets. Edmonton has lost two consecutive games, but is 5-3-2 in the last 10 games. Stuart Skinner is the projected starter in goal for the Oilers in this game. Evander Kane was held out of last game due to a coach’s decision. Connor McDavid is nine assists away from getting to 100 on the season. Zach Hyman hit the 50-goal mark in the last outing.

Connor Hellebuyck is the likely starter for the Jets, who have lost three straight. Winnipeg is also 5-5 in the last 10 games as its in a three-way fight for the Central Division. Kyle Connor leads the team in goals with 30 while Josh Morrissey is first in assists with 50. Winnipeg has only scored four goals in the last three games.

Both teams are struggling, but the Jets’ defence lends them to getting the win.

Prediction: Jets win 3-2.

Prop Bet of the Night

Let’s go with the second game of the night for our preferred prop bet of the night. We’ll take Panarin getting over the 100-point mark. Take Panarin with the over on +1.0 points.
