NHL Predictions: March 17 w/ New York Islanders vs New York Rangers

NHL Predictions

With the large amount of games on tonight’s NHL schedule, it might be hard to know where to start. We at the Last Word on Hockey have helped narrow your focus to our best bets. This round of NHL Predictions will help condense the slate into three best bets and one prop bet of the night.

NHL Predictions

New York Islanders vs New York Rangers

Head-to-Head: Islanders 0-1 Rangers

TV: TNT; Max; Sportsnet 360

Our first and featured game is the Battle of New York between the New York Islanders and the New York Rangers. The Isles will start Ilya Sorokin in a very important game for the team. Patrick Roy‘s Islanders have lost three straight games and are a point off the last Wild Card spot. Brock Nelson leads the team in goals with 29 while Noah Dobson has 57 assists this season. Blowing late leads has been a problem for the Islanders in recent games.

Igor Shesterkin is the expected starter for the Rangers, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. The Rangers are 6-3-1 in the last 10 games and this is the last game of a five games in one week stretch. Artemi Panarin leads in both goals (38) and assists (55) for the Blueshirts. Panarin is coming off a five-point day against the Pittsburgh Penguins the game before on Saturday.

Both teams are coming off back-to-backs, but the Isles take advantage of a tired Rangers team.

Prediction: Islanders win 3-2.

Winnipeg Jets vs Columbus Blue Jackets

Head-to-Head: Jets 1-0 Blue Jackets

TV: TSN3; Bally Sports Ohio; ESPN+

The Winnipeg Jets travel to Ohio to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets. Winnipeg is expected to go with Connor Hellebuyck in between the pipes for this one. The Jets are 6-4 in their last 10 games after a 6-0 shutout of the Anaheim Ducks. Winnipeg’s last three victories have been via the shutout. Kyle Connor leads the team in goals with 28 while Josh Morrissey has 48 assists this campaign.

Elvis Merzlikins is the projected starter for the Blue Jackets, who are 4-5-1 in the last 10 games. Alexander Nylander has been a bright spot since coming over in a trade earlier in the season. Boone Jenner leads the team in goals with 21 while Johnny Gaudreau is first in assists with 39. The Blue Jackets are 6-7-9 in games decided by one goal.

Winnipeg’s defence has been on point in recent games.Luck may not been on the Jackets’ side.

Prediction: Jets win 5-1.

Anaheim Ducks vs St Louis Blues

Head-to-Head: Ducks 0-1 Blues

TV: Bally Sports Southern California; Bally Sports San Diego; Bally Sports Midwest; ESPN+

Our final game of NHL predictions has Anaheim hosting the St Louis Blues. Anaheim is expected to go with John Gibson in goal for this game. The Ducks have lost five straight games and are 3-7 in the last 10 games. Frank Vatrano leads the club in goals with 29 and Troy Terry is first in assists with 29.

Joel Hofer is the likely starter in the blue paint for the Blues, who have won three straight games. St Louis is four points off the last wild card spot that’s held by the Vegas Golden Knights. Jordan Kyrou has 21 goals and 29 assists for the Blues. Brandon Saad has four goals and three assists over the last 10 games.

Anaheim has hit a wall scoring and there’s no pot of gold for the Ducks.

Prediction: Blues win 4-2.

Prop Bet of the Night

Let’s stay with the last game of the night from NHL predictions for our prop bet of the evening. Robert Thomas has been putting together a strong season with 50 assists. We’ll take Thomas getting the over on +1.0 points tonight against Anaheim.
