NHL Predictions: Feb 20 w/ Vancouver Canucks vs Colorado Avalanche

NHL predictions

With the large amount of games on tonight’s NHL schedule, it might be hard to know where to start. We at the Last Word on Hockey have helped narrow your focus to our best bets. This round of NHL Predictions will help condense the slate into three best bets and one prop bet of the night.

NHL Predictions

Ottawa Senators vs Florida Panthers

Head-to-Head: Senators 0-1 Panthers

TV: Bally Sports Florida; TSN5; ESPN+

Our opening game of NHL predictions has the Ottawa Senators visiting the Florida Panthers. It’s a battle of the Tkachuk brothers between Brady Tkachuk and Matthew Tkachuk. Joonas Korpisalo is the scheduled starter, but always check social media before locking in a fantasy starter. Brady Tkachuk leads the Senators with 25 goals while Tim Stutzle leads in assists with 38. Ottawa has won three of the last five games.

Florida has confirmed that Sergei Bobrovsky will get the start in between the pipes. The Panthers have a five-game winning streak going despite the last three games being on the road. Sam Reinhart is one goal away from 40 this season while Matthew Tkachuk leads in assists with 44.

Florida is staking its claim to being one of the best team in the East. The Tkachuk brothers battle should be fun, but the Cats get the win.

Prediction: Panthers win 4-2.

Vancouver Canucks vs Colorado Avalanhce

Head-to-Head: Canucks 0-1 Avalanche

TV: Altitude; Sportsnet Pacific; ESPN+

Our featured game of NHL predictions has the Vancouver Canucks taking on the Colorado Avalanche. The Canucks dropped their second straight in a high-scoring 10-7 game against the Minnesota Wild yesterday. Thatcher Demko is the expected starter for Vancouver. Brock Boeser has 31 goals and Quinn Hughes has 56 assists to lead in both categories.

Colorado is expected to roll with Alexandar Georgiev in goal. The Avalanche have won two of the last three games and are four points behind the Dallas Stars for first in the Central Division. Nathan MacKinnon is playing like a Hart Trophy candidate with 33 goals and 58 assists for 91 points. Both teams are in the top-three in offence with the Canucks in first and the Avalanche in third in goals scored.

These two teams can bring the goals, but Colorado has been playing a bit better on the defensive end.

Prediction: Avalanche win 5-3.

Nashville Predators vs Vegas Golden Knights

Head-to-Head: Predators 0-1 Golden Knights

TV: Bally Sports South; Scripps; Sportsnet; Sportsnet 1; ESPN+

Our last game of NHL predictions has the Vegas Golden Knights hosting the Nashville Predators. Nashville is expected to go with Juuse Saros in the blue paint for tonight’s game. The Predators got a big win over the St Louis Blues last time out to stay in the post-season hunt. Filip Forsberg is the team-leader in goals with 26 while Roman Josi is tops in assists with 39.

Vegas is slated to go with Adin Hill goal for this Western Conference game. The Golden Knights have won three of the the last five, including a 4-0 shutout of the San Jose Sharks last time out. Jonathan Marchessault is the Knights’ top scorer with 28 goals while Mark Stone has 37 assists to lead that statistical category. Vegas is fifth in goals allowed in the NHL.

The Predators are trying to stay alive, but the Golden Knights take the home victory.

Prediction: Golden Knights win 4-2.

Prop Bet of the Night

Let’s go back to our featured game of NHL predictions for our prop of the night. Both the Avalanche and the Canucks can pile up the goals. The over/under is listed at 6.5 at the moment, but the two teams can get past the number. We like the over in this one between the two high-flying clubs.
