NHL Predictions: Feb 19 w/ Dallas Stars vs Boston Bruins

NHL predictions

With the large amount of games on tonight’s NHL schedule, it might be hard to know where to start. We at the Last Word on Hockey have helped narrow your focus to our best bets. This round of NHL Predictions will help condense the slate into three best bets and one prop bet of the night.

NHL Predictions

Dallas Stars vs Boston Bruins

Head-to-Head: Stars 0-1 Bruins

TV: Bally Sports Southwest; NESN; ESPN+

Our opening and featured game of NHL predictions has the Dallas Stars taking on the Boston Bruins. The Stars had their three-game winning streak ended by the Edmonton Oilers last time out. Jake Oettinger is the expected starter for the Stars. However, always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. Also note the earlier start time due to the American Presidents Day holiday. Roope Hintz leads the team in goals with 23.

Linus Ullmark is the current expected starter, but don’t be surprised if Jeremy Swayman plays due to Ullmark starting Saturday. The Bruins have lost four in a row and shockingly coughed up a lead to the Los Angeles Kings last time out. David Pastrnak leads in goals (34) and assists (45) this season. Boston given up three goals or more during this current losing streak.

It’s a tough one to call, but the Bruins end the losing streak in this one. Getting off to a good start will tell the tale of this one.

Prediction: Bruins win 3-2.

Edmonton Oilers vs Arizona Coyotes

Head-to-Head: Oilers 0-0 Coyotes

TV: Scripps; Sportsnet 1; Sportsnet East; Sportsnet Ontario

The Oilers look to get their fourth victory in the last six against the Arizona Coyotes. Edmonton beat Dallas, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon. Stuart Skinner is the confirmed starter in this one for the Oilers. Zach Hyman has 32 goals to lead the club in scoring while Connor McDavid has dished out 60 assists. The Oilers are three points off second in the Pacific Division and have three games in hand on the Vegas Golden Knights.

Arizona was beaten last night by the Colorado Avalanche to run its losing streak to nine games. There was promise early in the Coyotes’ season, but things have hit the wall. Matt Villalta is the confirmed starter, but his first career NHL start is going to be a test against a high-powered Edmonton offence. Clayton Keller leads the team in goals with 21. However, he’s tied with Matias Maccelli for first in assists with 28.

It’s always hard to get a read on a new goalie like Villalta. However, the Oilers are great goal-scoring team.

Prediction: Oilers win 5-2.

Winnipeg Jets vs Calgary Flames

Head-to-head: Jets 0-1 Flames

TV: Sportsnet West; TSN3; ESPN+

Our final game of NHL predictions has the Winnipeg Jets taking on the Calgary Flames. Connor Hellebuyck is the expected starter for the Jets, who have three straight wins. Winnipeg is led by Kyle Connor‘s 19 goals and Mark Scheifele‘s 31 assists. The Jets are first in goals allowed, but 23rd in goals scored so far this season. Morgan Barron may miss today’s game due to an illness.

Jacob Markstrom is the projected starter for the Flames, who have lost three in a row. Could we see some major changes in Alberta in the next couple of weeks? Blake Coleman leads the Flames with 21 goals while Nazem Kadri is first in assists with 28. Both teams are struggling to score on the power play this campaign.

Markstrom has been playing well, but the Jets defence is really solid.

Prediction: Jets win 3-1.

Prop Bet of the Night

Go with one of the Oilers have a multi-point night. Either McDavid or Leon Draisaitl are poised to have a solid game against a reeling Coyotes team.
