Calgary Flames

Rumour: Kevin Weekes reports that Nikita Zadorov has requested a trade out of Calgary

Nikita Zadorov has not been shy on critiquing his team and the compete level from within. It’s a testament to his leadership and accountability and wanting to be better. He is one of three key players on the Flames’ blueline that is a pending free agent this summer. He wound be a hot commodity at the trade deadline but his services could be acquired sooner.

Kevin Weekes reports that Zadorov has requested a trade. This comes after their matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs, where the team lost in a shootout 5-4. Zadorov was a force in this game. He scored his first goal of the year and delivered a big open ice hit. He is the perfect addition to any team.

Zadorov is a big physical defenceman that plays the game hard. He is known for his shut down ability and uses his big frame and reach to his advantage. Zadorov is a competitor and his leadership would be great to have on the roster.

Get the popcorn ready, the fire sale is starting in Alberta.

Carolina Hurricanes

Rumour: Elliote Friedman on 32 Thoughts Podcast talks Patrick Kane

It is no secret that the Patrick Kane sweepstakes are heating up. There have been four teams linked to him so far and all have a connection to the player. However, Friedman wonders if the Hurricanes are in on this.

It would not be the first time they’ve poked around Kane and tried to bring him to Raleighwood. Last season at the deadline they inquired but it never came to fruition. Him having no trade protection allowed him to dictate where he could land and in the end got what he wanted. However, it is a new season and the team could circle around once again.

A healthy Kane would be lethal on this Hurricanes team. They are one of the best teams at 5v5 and have the leagues best Corsi For Percentage. However, they’ve generated 25.47 expected goals and have scored 24. An influx of offense up front could be a huge boost.

Seth Jarvis is off to a strong season and Teuvo Teravainen is bouncing back in a fantastic way. In a year where the team has a lot of pending free agents this summer, going all in on a Stanley Cup run is not a bad idea. Kane would bring leadership and is a player who has won three championships. Him alongside Sebastian Aho would be lethal for their potent attack.
