NHL Predictions: Oct. 28 w/ Winnipeg Jets vs Montreal Canadiens

NHL predictions

With the large amount of games on tonight’s NHL schedule, it might be hard to know where to start. We at the Last Word on Hockey have helped narrow your focus to our best bets. This round of NHL Predictions will help condense the slate into three best bets and one prop bet of the night.

NHL Predictions

Detroit Red Wings vs Boston Bruins

Head-to-Head: Red Wings 0-0 Bruins

TV: NESN; Bally Sports Detroit

Our first game of NHL predictions is an Atlantic Division battle. The Detroit Red Wings are coming off two straight losses. The last outing was a 4-1 setback to the Winnipeg Jets. Ville Husso will get the call in goal once again for Detroit. Alex DeBrincat has been huge since the off-season deal to acquire him. The forward already has nine goals in this campaign.

Jeremy Swayman is the projected starter for the Boston Bruins, but always check social media before locking in your fantasy goalie. The Bruins are coming off a surprising loss to the Anaheim Ducks, but have yet to lose in regulation. David Pastrnak has six goals this campaign for the Bruins. Charlie McAvoy has six helpers this season.

Both teams have been two of the better clubs in the Atlantic and both are looking to bounce back. However, Boston will scratch out the win.

Prediction: Bruins win 4-3.

Winnipeg Jets vs Montreal Canadiens

Head-to-Head: Jets 0-0 Canadiens

TV: CityTV; TVA; Sportsnet

Our featured game of NHL predictions is a battle of two Canadian squads. The Jets have won three straight games and have been stingy on defnce. Projected starter Connor Hellebuyck and the club have given up two goals or less during this streak. Kyle Connor has five goals already and Josh Morrissey has dished out six assists.

The Montreal Canadiens will likely counter with Jake Allen in between the pipes. Montreal is off to a 4-2-1 start and looking good at times. Cole Caufield leads in goals (4) and assists (5) for the Habs. Montreal has won three of its last four games with an exciting young squad.

Both teams are off to a decent start, but the Jets defence gets them the win.

Prediction: Jets win 3-2.

New York Rangers vs Vancouver Canucks

Head-to-Head: Rangers 0-0 Canucks

TV: CBC; MSG

Our last game of NHL predictions has the Metropolitan Division-leading New York Rangers taking on the Vancouver Canucks. Life has been good on the Western Canada road trip with two straight wins for the Blueshirts. Igor Shesterkin is the likely starter for the Rangers. Artemi Panarin, Filip Chytil and Alexis Lafreniere have been a solid line combo for New York in the early part of the season.

Casey DeSmith is the confirmed goalie for the Canucks, who are coming off a 5-0 shutout of the St Louis Blues. Brock Boeser has six goals already while Elias Pettersson has 12 points for Vancouver.

This should be a fun one, but the Blueshirts get the shootout win.

Prediction: Rangers win 3-2 in a shootout.

Prop Bet of the Night

We’re hoping the third time is the charm on this one. We’ll go to the Toronto Maple Leafs versus Nashville Predators matchup for this one. John Tavares has 11 points in his last seven games and we’ll ride that train. Take JT91 getting at least a point if you feel like a prop.
