Washington Capitals vs New Jersey Devils

Head-to-Head: Capitals 0-0 Devils

TV: TNT; Max

Our only game of tonight’s NHL predictions has the Capitals looking to get right against the Devils. Washington looked dreadful in a 4-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Hunter Shepard is the confirmed starter for the Capitals and this will be his NHL debut. It’s often tough to read how an opposing club will react to a new goalie. Could he have an advantage since this will be his first NHL start? Alex Ovechkin finally got on the scoresheet with the lone goal for Washington. However, he’s going to need a lot more help if the Capitals want to start gaining forward momentum.

Akira Schmid is the projected starter for the Devils, but always check social media when locking in a fantasy goalie. Tyler Toffoli netted a hat trick for New Jersey in a victory over the Montreal Canadiens last night. Jack Hughes also dished out four assists for New Jersey. The Devils have scored five goals in their last two games. This team is showing that it can hang with the best in the Eastern Conference.

Both teams are coming off back-to-back games the night before. However, the Capitals had the doors blown off them. Washington should put up a better effort, but it’s been giving up a lot of high-danger chances. That and a new face in goal could spell a problem for them.

Prediction: Devils win 5-2.
