NHL Rumour: Winnipeg Jets Forward Wants To Move On

The offseason frenzy is in full swing. There is no slow movement on anything and the tires are moving fast. One team has locked up a piece of their core group, while another has made a big splash trade. One team to monitor in that department is the Winnipeg Jets. Today’s rumours focus on a Pierre Luc Dubois Trade.

NHL Rumours: Pierre-Luc Dubois Wants A Trade Out Of Winnipeg

Rumour: Pierre LeBrun discusses the future of Winnipeg Jets forward

The Winnipeg Jets are going to have one of the busiest summers in recent memory. After a first-round exit, the future surrounding their core players is in question. The three players in question are Mark Scheifele, Connor Hellebuyck, and Pierre Luc Dubois. Each has one year left on their respective deals. However, a Pierre Luc Dubois trade makes sense. As stated above, his agent has informed the club that he will not sign a one-year bridge deal. At this rate, trade the player and capitalize on what assets you can get.

Dubois Is Worth Trading For

This makes sense for the Jets. If the player simply does not want to be there, find a trade partner and cut the ties. Dubois is an attractive player in the trade market. He can play a physical brand of hockey and he is hard on the forecheck. Dubois uses his size (6’3, 218 pounds) to fit his playing style. In addition, he has the ability to chip in offensively. Dubois is coming off a career year for himself under new head coach Rich Bowness. He went on to score 27 goals and set a career-high in assists (34) and points (63). Dubois finished fourth on the team with 29.9 expected goals and scored near his expected rate. Whoever acquires him is getting a quality player capable of producing. And after a career year, it would net a solid return for the Jets going forward.
