Senators Exploring Alex DeBrincat Trade
Rumour: Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said that the Senators are looking at all options when it comes to the 25-year-old forward. This includes a trade according to the insider. However, Ottawa general manager Pierre Dorion and DeBrincat’s agent Jeff Jackson declined comment. DeBrincat is a restricted free agent this off-season and arbitration eligible.

DeBrincat was fourth on the team in goals with 27, but had his second 41-goal season last year. This means there will be plenty of suitors for the Farmington Hills, Mich. native. Dorion would hopefully be able to get some sort of return for the former Chicago Blackhawks player.
Will Alex DeBrincat Trade Happen Soon?
We’re less than 25 days away from the NHL draft and Dorion needs to find out what he can get for the young winger. DeBrincat said he wants to see how the ownership situation shakes out before making a commitment to the club.Even if the Senators pick a new owner in the near future, there’s still the sale-closing process — which will take time.
The Senators have some good young players, but haven’t put it together the last couple of seasons. There’s pressure on Dorion and head coach D.J. Smith to get the Senators into the post-season. The trade will feel like a missed opportunity, but they can salvage something if they make the right move.
