NHL Predictions: October 15 Including Washington Capitals vs Montreal Canadiens

Washington Capitals and Montreal Canadiens

Welcome back to another day of NHL Predictions. Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered much-watch TV. Today’s NHL Predictions featured game is the Montreal Canadiens vs Washington Capitals.

NHL Predictions: Washington Capitals at Montreal Canadiens

Florida Panthers vs Buffalo Sabres

The Florida Panthers continue their road trip in New York as they take on the Buffalo Sabres. Both teams find themselves undefeated to start the season. Florida went on to defeat the Islanders, and the Sabres to defeat their division rival Ottawa Senators. 4-2. A good goaltending matchup is on deck between Sergei Bobrovsky and Craig Anderson. Both looked very good leading their teams to victory, and they look to do the same in tonight’s matchup. This is the first of three meetings and the first time that the Sabres get to face off against Matthew Tkachuk.

Panthers vs Sabres head to head 0-0

Prediction: Panthers defeat Sabres 4-2

Vancouver Canucks vs Philadelphia Flyers

This matchup features Bruce Boudreau‘s offensive style against John Tortorella’s sandpaper style of hockey. A skilled offence going up against a physical group is something to watch. On deck is also a youthful goaltending matchup between Thatcher Demko and Carter Hart. On the surface, the Canucks have a much better team with star talent. The Flyers are the lesser team with key players out and young guns in the lineup, but on Thursday night, they executed Tortorella’s system perfectly.

Canucks vs Flyers head to head 0-0

Prediction: Canucks defeat Flyers 4-1

Arizona Coyotes vs Boston Bruins

The veterans playing against the kids. Two teams in two opposite directions. A veteran group in the Boston Bruins takes on the young and inexperienced Arizona Coyotes for their home opener. Despite being down key names to start the year, the Bruins did easy work with the Washington Capitals. The Coyotes suffered a defeat to the Penguins and now get to take on another cup contender for the second consecutive game. The Bruins are the superior team in all aspects of the ice and should make light work of a weaker Coyotes squad.

Bruins vs Coyotes head to head 0-0

Prediction: Bruins defeat Coyotes 5-1

Detroit Red Wings vs New Jersey Devils

This is an exciting matchup on deck. A battle between two teams who made plenty of moves in the off-season to get better and now get to faceoff against one another. This matchup is highlighted by the stud defenceman Moritz Seider and superstar centre Jack Hughes. There are many other young talents in this lineup, with Lucas Raymond, Alexander Holtz, and Dawson Mercer. Both of these teams are on the rise to being more competitive and should be a good game between the two.

Devils vs Red Wings head to head 0-0

Prediction: Red Wings defeat Devils 4-3

Washington Capitals vs Montreal Canadiens

This NHL predictions-featured game for this evening is the Washington Capitals against the Montreal Canadiens. This game features one of the greatest goal scorers in all of hockey, Alexander Ovechkin and the young sniper Cole Caufield. Watching these two lethal snipers go head-to-head is a treat to all hockey fans. One is chasing the all-time goals record, and the other is aiming to establish himself as an elite scorer in this league.

These teams are in opposite trends. The Capitals are a veteran team that is among the contenders in the east. They finished with over 100 points and qualified for the playoffs last year. Montreal is a young team headed in a better direction under head coach Martin St. Louis. The team finished in the basement of the league last season. However, the team saw an elevation in their play once the coaching change was made.

In hindsight, Washington should secure the two points, but if we learned anything the other night, any given night anything can happen. Caufield had the Bell Centre rocking with two goals and is looking to do that again in this matchup.

Capitals vs Canadiens Head to Head 0-0
