Nicolas Hague needed a new contract, and he received one. The young defenseman has signed a deal with a cap hit of $2.294 million and is locked up for the next three years. This is a good deal for him and the team.

Vegas Golden Knights Sign Nicolas Hague Contract

While being on the chopping block for as long as he was, Hague signed a new contract. The young defenceman will only see his game grow larger. The team is lucky to be able to keep a player of his calibre and stature in their locker room.

Why He Benefits The Team

Nicolas Hague is a good young defenceman. In his time with the Golden Knights, he has moved up and down the chart. He spent the majority of the season alongside top defenceman Alex Pietrangelo. The pair averaged 2.85 goals for per 60 minutes. Hague had his best statistics alongside Zach Whitecloud. After leading all pairs with an expected goals for per 60 minutes with 3.64, the pair went on to average 2.95 goals for per 60 minutes while also averaging 2.64 goals against per 60 minutes.

Nicolas Hague can play anywhere and with anybody. Hague went on to finish fifth in points among the defenceman with 14. He skated in 52 games and finished with 80 blocked shots, and with the larger game scale, he would finish with over 100.

Nicolas Hague is offensive-driven and helps drive possession. He is by no means a liability in his own end. A player of his size and impact is why he is worth the contract.

What This Means For The Player

This is a good deal for the player. Hague can now continue to build upon his game. With the worries of contract negotiations and where he will play the game he loves out the window, he can focus on his new home and contribute on the ice.
