Curtis Lazar has signed a new contract with the Vancouver Canucks. The fourth-line center has spent the last two seasons with the Boston Bruins. After opting not to sign him, he has found himself a new home. Lazar has a deal that pays him $1 million for three years. An excellent depth presence for this team and he comes with experience.

Curtis Lazar On The Move

After spending the last two seasons with the Boston Bruins, Curtis Lazar has signed a new contract. Boston has a thing where they cycle out fourth-line players. Sean Kuraly was a stable fourth-line center that moved on and they managed to replace him. The same situation with Lazar, and the center has moved on to greener pastures.

Lazar is a player that can play with speed and get in on the forecheck. He goes to the greasy areas and plays a solid shutdown fourth-line role. Typically playing the bottom six minutes and can also slot in on the penalty kill. Lazar is not bad in the faceoff circle and managed to win 48.9% of his faceoffs this season. While playing on the fourth line, he had a Corsi For Percentage at 44% and an on-ice goal percentage at 38.7%. In 70 games this season, he managed to score eight goals and eight assists, and 16 points.

Lazar has been in the league since 2014. He has skated with the Ottawa Senators, Calgary Flames, Buffalo Sabres, Boston Bruins, and now the xxx. For his career, he’s amassed 35 goals, 55 assists and 90 points.

What The Contract Means For The Team

Curtis Lazar has found himself a new home and can continue to play the game he loves. The depth forward can come in and play in the new system and contribute in any way he can to the team. After going through being traded and now not resigned, he can come in and play hockey. A bottom-six role player will always be in work in this league.

How Lazar Helps The Team

Curtis Lazar comes with experience. A veteran presence at the bottom of the lineup can be helpful when it matters most. Lazar can do the little things, and while being plugged in the right situation, he can impact the lineup. The Curtis Lazar contract is a good deal for a bottom-tier player and depth is always good to have in your lineup.
