Calgary Flames Superstar Winger May Not Return

Johnny Gaudreau Contract

The Stanley Cup has been won, and the city of Denver partied like it was 2001. The rumour mill and the speculation surrounding the draft and free agency is surreal. There is so much going on and so many key players to keep an eye out for. The hottest name in Calgary right now is Johnny Gaudreau. Johnny Gaudreau needs a new contract. Today’s rumours surround him and the team and the negotiations they currently have going on.

Johnny Gaudreau Could Leave Calgary

Rumour: Lebrun on Insider Trading says Johnny Gaudreau remains undecided on the Calgary Flames offer and communication has not been there.

Johnny Gaudreau needs a new contract. The pending UFA is the biggest fish on the open market this free agency period. After a stellar campaign that saw him have a career season, he is going to command a hefty raise and have plenty of suitors. All eyes are on Johnny Gaudreau as free agency approaches.

Why He Is Worth The Contract

The idea of Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk terrorizing the Pacific Division could come to a close. Gaudreau is coming off a career season. He finished the season with 40 goals, 75 assists, and 115 points led the team and also third overall in the entire league. Gaudreau had 52 of his 75 assists be primary which speaks volumes to his playmaking ability for the goals. His on-ice goals percentage at 74.5% was insanely good and ranked first on the team. He was red hot for the Flames all season long. He only managed three goals in the playoffs, as he and the rest of the team could not solve Dallas Stars goalie Jake Oettinger. His offensive ability will be highly coveted as he can slot on the top line on almost any team that needs him.

Who Should Offer Johnny Gaudreau A Contract

Philadelphia Flyers

If Johnny Gaudreau has any say on where he gets to play, he may choose the Philadelphia Flyers. A narive of Southern New Jersey close to the Philly area, he could return home to play. The Flyers should chime in and make this happen. They need offence in a bad way. They were a middle-of-the-pack team scoring only 159 goals. There highest point-getter didn’t surpass 60. Gaudreau and his production would go a long way as he almost doubled that on his own.

New Jersey Devils

Another team in the metro area close to his hometown could make it work. They missed out on Kevin Fiala and could turn their head to the bigger fish. Granted they need to re-sign Jesper Bratt, but they also need a winger to play with Nico Hischier. Johnny Gaudreau would be a welcomed addition to the team and would give the Devils a top Six they haven’t had in quite some time.
