Report: Dallas Stars Bring On Peter DeBoer As Head Coach

Peter DeBoer Stars

The Dallas Stars have found a bench boss this offseason. From Elliotte Friedman, the Stars have brought on Peter DeBoer to their coaching staff. This move comes after Rick Bowness mutually agreed to part ways with the team.

Peter DeBoer New Head Coach For Stars

DeBoer has been in the league since the 2008-09 season, where he originally coached a Florida Panthers team to a 41-30 record. Since then, he’s been a two-time conference champion, one in the East and one in the West. After Florida, he moved on to the New Jersey Devils for four years, winning that aforementioned Eastern Conference championship in his first season. From there, he went to the San Jose Sharks, again winning a conference championship in his first season with the club. Finally, he ended up being the Vegas Golden Knights‘ first head coach in team history, before being fired in May of 2022.

What This Means For Dallas

While it wasn’t the best showing for Dallas this year, they still have a lot of talent left on their roster. With Peter DeBoer now on the Stars, they can begin to fully show off their youngsters. However, there is some concern that the hiring of DeBoer could stunt Jake Oettinger’s growth as a player. With his incredible performance in Round 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, it’s easy to see why fans would be concerned. However, fans need to remember the successes he’s had with teams, especially in his first year working with them. Dallas badly needs some of that success. Since their cup run in 2020, they’ve been hovering around the wild card spot. They need to commit and try to get back to their glory. A new coach could be the beginning of the rise of the Stars. Or it could be the start of their downfall. Time will tell.
