Seth Jones Trade

Jim welcomes everyone to the show during the NHL Draft weekend. Defenders have moved around left and right as teams position themselves for next season. One of the big trades of the weekend was the Seth Jones trade to Chicago. The boys get into the details of the trade and why it is a good fit for Chicago. They also look at it from a Columbus perspective and why players just want out.

New York Rangers

Jim transitions the show to the New York Rangers. The boys look at the signings of Barclay Goodrow along with the trade of Pavel Buchnevich to St. Louis for Sammy Blais. Jim says for a guy like Goodrow it is all about finding the right players to get to play with Goodrow. Blais is a good starting point as he was instrumental in the Blues run to the Stanley Cup in 2019. This will be a good third line as Coach Jay and Marc Point out. Marc notes this was a salary move. In addition, Coach Jay believes the Rangers will be moving on from Alexander Georgiev.

Philadelphia Flyers

A team that made some moves was the Philadelphia Flyers. Jim talks about the Flyers acquisition of Ryan Ellis along with Rasmus Ristolainen and Cam Atkinson. He says the Flyers have improved their defence going forward and the boys agree. Coach Jay adds that if the defence is better this will give Carter Hart more confidence between the pipes. The Flyers have expectations and they want to get back into the playoff mix. The Atkinson trade was unexpected but both Columbus and Philadelphia are shaking things up.

In addition, the boys look at the signing of Cale Makar by the Colorado Avalanche, Seattle Expansion Draft, Arizona Coyotes, and more.
