Team Canada Favoured To Win 2021 World Junior Championships

2021 World Junior Championships

Hockey is finally coming back. While we have to wait on the NHL, that does not mean the game stops. As the song goes it is the most wonderful time of the year. Sites like Sports Interaction have put up odds for which teams will win their groups and outright win the 2021 World Junior Championship. In addition, there will be odds for each game of the preliminary round along with different props as well. With games starting as early as 11 am, fans will be able to place bets during live games. Today we look at the favourites to win the 2021 World Junior Championship. As it stands now Team Canada is the favourite to repeat.

Canada Favored To Win 2021 World Junior Championships

Entering this tournament every year, there are five teams that have a legit shot to win this thing. Canada, USA, Russia, Sweden, and Finland. It is no surprise that Team Canada is favoured to win the tournament at +108. This is as close to an overwhelming favourite as there can be. And why not. Canada is the defending gold medalists and playing on home soil in Edmonton. And just look at that roster.  20 of their 25 players are first-round picks which include Kirby Dach, Dylan Cozens, Bowen Byram, Quinton Byfield, and Cole Perfetti just to name a few. Canada is always a powerhouse at this tournament. There are still question marks in the net, but if you look up and down the roster, Canada is just too strong in the important positions. Team Canada is a good bet to win this thing.

Other Smart Odds

As mentioned before there are other teams that can win this thing. Let’s take a look at those.

Russia +360

Russia has the best goaltender in the tournament in Yaroslav Askarov. While the 2020 tournament was not a good one for the phenom, this year should be different. The Russians are always tough at this tournament. They always just squeak through the round-robin and find themselves in the medal round and challenging for the gold. Russia has a team that can match the Canadians. This is a good value of +360.

USA +390

Another team with good value is Team USA. They have the best goaltending duo in the tournament with Spencer Knight and Dustin Wolf. Not to mention the group upfront is loaded with talent. The 2001 class year has unfinished business at this tournament and internationally. At +390 you are getting good value at this number. They are definitely in a tough group, but once the medal round comes anything can happen.

Group A Winner

Just like earlier Canada is favoured to win their Group at -303. The toughest team for Canada is Finland as they always play Canada tough. So does Switzerland, but Canada just has too much firepower. This is the lock of all locks.

Group B Winner

Group B is the “Group of Death” with Sweden, Russia, and the USA all in it. Team USA and Russia are favourites at +175 to win the division, but these two teams matchup on opening night. Even though Sweden is missing some key players, they still have a good team and at +195 that is a sneaky good play. Not to mention Sweden does not lose in round-robin play at the World Juniors.

The choice is yours and yours alone. But we are here to guide you through this difficult process. Again this is for entertainment purposes only. Nothing guaranteed, and please enjoy responsibly.
