Jaromir Jagr Gets 1,800th Career Point

2015: The ageless Czech forward gets a pair of assists in the Florida Panthers 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins. Jagr becomes the fourth player to reach 1,800 career points with the points. He joins Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier and Gordie Howe as the only players to get the mark.

Jagr would play into the 2017-18 with the Calgary Flames before heading back to the Czech league with Kladno. He finished with 1,921 NHL points, but the 48-year-old is still playing hockey.

Other Notable Events

1931: Cy Wentworth scores 53:50 into overtime of Game 1 as the Chicago Blackhawks edge the Montreal Canadiens, 3-2. It’s the longest game in Stanley Cup Final history until 1990.

1942: Eddie Bush‘s five points are the most by a defenceman in a Cup Final game. The Detroit Red Wings beat the Toronto Maple Leafs, 5-2, in Game 3.

1963: Dick Duff of the Leafs scores the fastest two goals to start a game in a 4-2 win over the Wings. Duff beats Terry Sawchuk twice as the Toronto wins Game 2 of the Final.

1968: Wayne Connelly of the Minnesota North Stars is the first to score on a penalty shot in a playoff game. Connelly beats Sawchuk as the North Stars beat the Los Angeles Kings, 7-5.

1972: Pit Martin scores the fastest OT goal as the Blackhawks would sweep the Pittsburgh Penguins, 6-5. Martin would score 12 seconds into the extra session.

1980: Howe scores his final NHL goal as the Hartford Whalers lose 8-4 to the Canadiens. It was the 68th post-season goal of his career.

1987: Gretzky ties a playoff record for most assists in a post-season game with six. The Edmonton Oilers would thump the Kings, 13-3, in Game 2 of the Smythe semis.

1993: Pittsburgh would break the consecutive wins record with 16 in a 10-4 rout of the New York Rangers.

2006: Joe Thornton sets the NHL record for most points by a player traded during the season. The San Jose Sharks forward nets his 113th of the season and finishes with 125.

2017: Detroit wins the final game at the Joe Louis Arena as the top the New Jersey Devils, 4-1.
