Nashville Predators Colton Sissons Placed On IR

The Nashville Predators announced that center Colton Sissons has been placed on injured reserve with a foot ailment. There is no timetable for his return.

Colton Sissons Injured

Sessions had been battling through the pain but ended up rolling his ankle which forced him out of Tuesday’s game in the third period. He has since been seen in a walking boot and the Predators haven’t announced a timetable for his return.

So far this season, Sissons has scored seven goals and nine assists for 16 points to go along with 15 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 52.7 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of -0.8 percent Corsi.

Sissons has spent his entire five-year career with the Nashville Predators. He has 29 goals and 34 assists for 63 career points in 225 career games. He was originally drafted by the Nashville Predators in the second round, 50th overall in the 2012 NHL draft.

What This Means for the Future

Sissons is currently on pace to have a career-year and two goals from matching a career-high. This season he’s playing on the second line for the Predators. Sissons is currently second on the time in faceoffs. During his absence Kyle Turris will take his spot on the second line. He leads the team with three game-winning goals this season.

Nashville won’t have a problem on draws as all their center are at least 50% in the faceoff circle this season. A penalty kill that is 82 percent and one of the top penalty-killing teams in the league will miss Sissions presence when shorthanded. It will be interesting to see how the Preds adjust without him in the lineup.

It’s another injury for the Predators as they are without P.K. Subban, Viktor Arvidsson and Filip Forsberg. Nashville is limping along and waiting for the Christmas break to get here. Hopefully they can get a few of their players back soon.
