The Winnipeg Jets announced that they have re-signed restricted free agent defenceman Tucker Poolman to a three-year deal. The contract is worth $2.325 million and carries an average annual value of $775,000 per season. It carries Poolman through the 2020-21 season, at which point he is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent.

Poolman just finished his rookie season with the Jets. In 24 games he picked up one goal and one assist for two points. Poolman did not take a single penalty. He also played in two Stanley Cup Playoff games as the Jets advanced to the Western Conference Final for the first time in team history. His possession numbers were 53.3 percent Corsi-For and a relative Corsi of +1.5. Poolman averaged 12:34 of ice-time per game.

Poolman also spent 17 games with the Manitoba Moose in the AHL, picking up a goal and nine assists for 10 points. He was originally drafted in the fifth round, 127th overall of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets.

Poolman has good size at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds. He is mainly known for his strong defensive game. While not a big hitter, he is able to use his size to win battles in the corners and in front of the net. Poolman should continue to be a reliable depth defenceman for the Jets, playing on their bottom pair.
