This is part one of a multi-part series tackling the nitty-gritty of hockey’s newest statistics. Episodes will be released every Wednesday. Coming up next week: Data Visualization with Sean Tierney.
Hockey’s newest statistics, otherwise known as hockey analytics have come a long way since their inception in the mid-2000’s. From raw Corsi and Fenwick to expected goals, micro-stats, AdjGSAA, and WAR the landscape is ever changing. Ian brings us through where we’ve come from, where we are, and more importantly where we’re going.
A master of dispelling voodoo, Ian is a goalie guru and hockey savant. His work on goaltender statistics and in data visualization is phenomenal and can all be found on his website DispellingVoodoo. You can follow him on Twitter @ImFleming16.
