The Philadelphia Flyers top six have played well during their eight-game win streak. On top of that, the goaltending they’ve received from Steve Mason has helped.

Philadelphia Flyers Top Six Performing

In six of their eight games during the streak, the Flyers had a two-goal scorer. In five of those six games, the multi-goal scorer is in the Flyers top six. Claude Giroux and Wayne Simmonds each had two games where they scored two goals.

Claude Giroux

The Flyers captain has had quite the past few weeks. He got engaged a day before the team’s game against the Ottawa Senators. He then led the team to a 3-2 overtime win with two goals in the contest. His second goal of the game came 40 seconds into the overtime period.

During the win streak Giroux has 11 points, in the form of 5 goals and 6 assists. His points have come in timely spots as well. Against the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday, Giroux’s first goal gave the Flyers a brief lead, and his second later tied the game.

Jakub Voracek

Voracek could be considered the hottest player during the eight-game win streak. The forward has 15 points in the last eight games, with four goals and 11 assists.

“I don’t think I’ve changed my game,” Voracek said. “Even if I went those six games without a point, from a couple weeks back I don’t think I’m playing any different now. When you stick with it and work hard, the points eventually are going to come. That’s exactly what’s happening now.”

Giroux praised his linemate following the overtime win to the Senators. Voracek assisted on the winning goal.

“He’s a good player 1-on-1 and I try to give him room. He’s able to find me. A great pass. That goal was all him. It was a really good play.”

While Voracek isn’t a part of the group that has had two-goal performances, he has been a big part in helping his fellow teammates reach that mark.

Voracek also played a big role in the team’s 6-5 comeback win against the Oilers. He scored a goal and dished out three assists in the contest.

Wayne Simmonds

Simmonds is another Flyer playing at his best now. He posted back-to-back games with two goals apiece, against the Nashville Predators and Florida Panthers. Five goals and three assists highlight his contributions during the win streak.

Simmonds is known as a streaky scorer as he tends to score his goals in bunches. The power play is the place where Simmonds tends to get most of his goals. As a net-front presence, he isn’t afraid to get to the dirty areas in front of the goalie. Deflections and rebounds are often where he does his best work.

Brayden Schenn

Schenn has found himself moved around to different lines throughout the season. His most recent assignment has been to center a line that includes Simmonds and rookie Travis Konecny. Things finally paid off for Schenn in the team’s 4-2 win against the Dallas Stars.

He recorded his second career hat trick, with each goal coming on the man advantage. Scoring hasn’t come at a premium for Schenn, but things clicked for him in this one. Two of the goals deflected off Voracek shots, and his third was a rebound off a Simmonds shot. His third of the game was also the game winner.

Other players in the Flyers top six have been a part of the streak. Michael Raffl has scored a couple of goals while Konecny has been able to help spark the team in multiple ways. It’s the play of the Philadelphia Flyers top-six forwards that will need to continue if the team wants to keep the win streak going.
