In terms of their form, Germany Women finished their recent EURO qualifying campaign with five wins and only one loss in Iceland. But that sounds much better than it was, given that the team were far too vulnerable at the back, something that would be punished, were it to happen at the Olympics as well.

As noted above, Oberdorf badly injured her knee in the last EURO qualifier against Austria. Janina Minge, who started next to her in that game, replaced Oberdorf in the 18-player Olympic roster.
