The Premier League is currently scheduled to return on April 30. However, that date has always appeared to be an unlikely return, and all clubs accept that it is now the case.
As a result, a new date is set to be set, although the likelihood is that it will be postponed indefinitely, allowing the country to deal with the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
However, clubs are still keen to see the 2019/20 season completed – not null and voided – so broadcast revenue is not lost.
The Premier League’s 20 clubs will discuss plans as to how and when the season can eventually return.
When the season can resume safely, they will likely be behind close doors to continue with the social-distancing guidelines.
Another possibility is finishing the season in “isolated camps” over two months in the summer, according to Miguel Delaney of the Independent. These games would take place at a small number of venues, and there would be multiple games per day.
Furthermore, there is a possibility of games being played in China. According to The Athletic, this is a possibility due to the nation looking to be over the worse of the pandemic.
