Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Gunners are continuing to work on a new contract for the 17-year-old attacking midfielder after witnessing his impressive performances for the senior team. The 17-year-old still has a youth team contract with Arsenal and the club is trying to ensure that he gets a new and improved deal that reflects his position in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Romano also adds that Arsenal are prioritising talks with Nwaneri’s representatives over a new deal, to be finalised as soon as possible. It’s stated that the Gunners are optimistic about striking an agreement with the 17-year-old. The journalist also says that Nwaneri is very happy with his current role at Arsenal, meaning he is unlikely to cause any obstacles in their attempts to seal the contract extension agreement.

How Has Nwaneri Fared for Arsenal so Far This Season?

The 17-year-old has coped well with the jump from the youth ranks to playing at the senior level for Arteta’s side, both in cup competitions and in the Premier League. Nwaneri has scored four goals for the Gunners in 10 appearances across all competitions, including three goals in two Carabao Cup matches.
