Deco Denies Ter Stegen Replacement Links – “I Wish Him To Win Titles At Porto”

Sporting Director and former player of FC Barcelona, Deco, has told reporters that the club is not intent on signing a goalkeeper to replace Marc-André ter Stegen. In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, the Portuguese legend said, “Our priority is ter Stegen, who’s going to be under contract for the next three years.
Barcelona have been without their first-choice goalkeeper and club captain, Ter Stegen, since September 22 and will continue to be until the end of the season. The German ruptured his patella tendon on his right knee in a La Liga match against Villarreal CF.

There had been rumours that Los Culers were looking to sign Diogo Costa of FC Porto, as mentioned by Mundo Deportivo. Deco said of his fellow compatriot, “If I were Diogo Costa, I’m not sure I’d join Barça to be a backup.” He then went on to wish the Portugal international all the best at another of his former clubs, saying, “I wish him to win titles at Porto.”
Make Do With What They Have
Barça brought Wojciech Szczesny out of retirement, after learning that Ter Stegen wouldn’t return until after the season’s end. The former Juventus and Arsenal goalkeeper has yet to make an appearance while he rediscovers his form and fitness after a summer off.
