Liverpool head into the November international break following a compelling 2-0 win over Aston Villa which helped them go clear at the top of the 2024/25 Premier League table. Despite that big win, there was some worrying news on defender Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury after the game.
Liverpool Confirm Concerning Trent Alexander-Arnold Injury
What Did Arne Slot Say?
The English full-back had to be substituted early on in the first half after picking up some kind of an injury and was replaced by Conor Bradley. After the match, the Reds’ head coach Arne Slot delivered an update on Alexander-Arnold’s situation and stated: “It’s difficult to say how serious it is but it’s always serious if a play goes out in the first half. Not because I didn’t like him (his performance) but because he asked for it himself.”

“He didn’t ask for it because he was tired, he asked because he felt something. That’s not a good sign but it’s always difficult so close after the game to tell you exactly what it is. Let’s wait and see. I would be surprised if he plays for the England national team this week but hopefully he can.”
How Has Alexander-Arnold’s Season Gone So Far?
The right-back has been chosen for the England squad for their upcoming matches against Greece and the Republic of Ireland in the UEFA Nations League, but it remains to be seen if he can actually play in either of those matches. The 26-year-old is enjoying a pretty solid start to the new campaign under Slot, having started all 11 Premier League games so far this season.

Even though Alexander-Arnold only has one assist from 15 appearances in this campaign for Liverpool, he’s produced some impressive performances defensively and helped them keep eight clean sheets across all competitions prior to the Aston Villa game. There is some uncertainty over his future as his contract expires at the end of June, 2025 and Real Madrid are being strongly linked to make a move for him. But Alexander-Arnold, who was hailed as “brilliant” earlier thanks to his heroics for England earlier this year, looks focused on helping the Reds win major trophies and has fitted into Slot’s style with ease.
