How Bayern Munich Have Lined Up Recently

Recently, Bayern have generally only rotated at the right-back position and on the wings. That only changed when injuries forced coach Vincent Kompany’s hand. On the other positions, the starters have largely stayed the same. Last time out against Benfica, for example, the team started as follows: Manuel Neuer was in goal.

Konrad Laimer and Alphonso Davies took up their positions on the flanks of the back four. Kim Min-jae and Dayot Upamecano played in the centre of the defence. Joao Palhinha joined Joshua Kimmich in the holding midfield positions, as Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, and Harry Kane made up the front four.

There too, Kompany only altered the team in two positions, compared to the previous game. Right-back and left-wing Laimer and Gnabry came in for Raphael Guerreiro and Kingsley Coman respectively.

Bayern Munich Recent Form and Tactics

It seems that now the team have finally found the balance between attack and defence. Going four matches without conceding, while also scoring many goals speaks for itself. In the pre-match press conference, Kompany stressed that his side are fit, despite playing many games in a short period of time.

That fitness is the key difference from a season ago under Thomas Tuchel. Bayern have gotten used to the new boss’s high-pressing style and they now know how to defend as well as attack in it.

But in the period of late November to early December, when they face PSG in the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, as well as Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB Cup, in consecutive games will put that to the test.

Bayern Munich Injuries to Consider

Hiroki Ito, Sacha Boey, Josip Stanisic and Aleksandar Pavlovic remain on the sidelines for the time being.
